POSITION DESCRIPTION
The primary purpose of the part time Veteran Services Associate (Student Support Specialist II) is to provide administrative and certifying support for Veterans Services.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Serve as a point of contact for Veteran Services, providing excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff by answering inquiries about military-connected benefits through available resources and services to ensure timely and accurate responses.
  2. VA School Certifying Official for Hopkinsville Community College.  Certify student enrollments through VA Enrollment Manager according to Veterans Affairs education benefits regulations. Ensure compliance with benefits awarded to ensure proper accounting in the HCC PeopleSoft student administration system and VA Enrollment Manager. Process dependent tuition waivers from the Kentucky Department of Veteran Affairs. Complete required SCO annual trainings.
  3. Ensure accurate data-entry related to military education benefits and mandated documentation to comply with Veteran Affairs law and regulation.
  4. Maintain and update appropriate application and student records and assist students in completing required applications across the college and Veteran Affairs education systems.
  5. Other duties as assigned by Fort Campbell Campus Director.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  1. Bachelor degree and two years related work experience, or equivalent.
  2. Demonstrated excellent customer service skills/soft skills. 
  3. Demonstrated attention to detail.
  4. Demonstrated excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task in an open office environment and respond to issues and concerns that affect the department. 
  5. Discretion in handling high level, confidential materials related to the department. 
  6. Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  7. Demonstrated excellent database and computer skills. 
 
KY law requires state and national pre-employment background
checks as a condition of employment.
