POSITION DESCRIPTION
The primary purpose of the Staff Instructor V is to coordinate, promote, and deliver customized welding training and manage and administer tests for the college’s American Welding Society (AWS) Accredited Testing Facility.  Must possess the ability to teach in an interactive learning environment utilizing both hands-on instruction and an online learning management platform, both on-site and off-site.  The successful candidate must have strong skills in welding processes including but not limited to SMAW, MIG, TIG, Oxyfuel/Plasma and blueprint reading.  The candidate must be able to follow a focused instructional timeline that prepares graduates for the fast-paced work of manufacturing.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Organize and deliver accelerated and customized credit and non-credit welding training.
  • Manage and maintain Accredited Testing Facility according to American Welding Society standards.
  • Work with Workforce Solutions staff to promote training, advise students and schedule testing.
  • Attend necessary training/professional development.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
 
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree and three years related experience, or equivalent.
  • American Welding Society Certified Welding Instructor (CWI) certification.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), problem solving, and ability to get along with diverse population.
 
KY law requires state and national pre-employment background
checks as a condition of employment.
