POSITION DESCRIPTION
Teach mathematics and reading, provide assessment and targeted instruction services to the Academic Foundations Department students that may be in Christian or adjacent counties seeking to earn a high school equivalency diploma (GED, enroll in college, or advance in a career.   Services may be provided at college campus, county jails, or other external locations.
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  1. Provide instruction for Adult Basic Education students in disadvantaged populations using a variety of methodologies and educational practices.
  2. Plan, implement, document, and evaluate instructional practices, procedures, and materials.
  3. Supervise instructional aids.
  4. Use formal and informal student assessments and data to monitor and assess student progress.
  5. Adhere to and maintain established performance reporting procedures and information to ensure adherence to local, state, and federal policies and procedures.
  6. Make referrals to community agencies or postsecondary institutions as appropriate.
  7. Participate in the retention and follow-up of students.
  8. Participate in required professional development activities.
  9. Other duties as assigned.
 
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  1. Bachelor’s degree (education or content-related field), and two years related experience or equivalent.
  2. Earn 12.9+ score in every content area (Language, Reading and Math) on a TABE A or, within the past ten years, have earned a 21-composite score on an ACT or 990 on the SAT.  A current teaching certificate in the content area of instruction is preferred.
  3. Ability to use common productivity software and Internet tools.
  4. Excellent ability to use data in planning and oversight.
  5. Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills.
 
KY law requires state and national pre-employment background checks as a condition of employment.
