Position Description
The primary purpose of the Staff Instructor III - Agriculture is to develop and present workshops and classes to address agrarian needs of assigned county communities.
 
Major Responsibilities/Duties
  • Develop and present workshops and classes to address agrarian needs of Christian, Todd, Trigg, and Caldwell county communities (minimum of 4 young and/or adult farmer classes, with a minimum of 10 class meetings for each class group).
  • Provide instruction in group and individual formats.
  • Hold periodic seasonal meetings and provide more in-depth offerings during the fall (post-harvest) and winter (pre-planting) months.
  • Provide individualized assistance as needed.   Required to complete a minimum of four to six supervisory (one on one) visits to each class member that participates in the program.
  • Organize young farmer chapter(s) to be affiliated with the Kentucky Young Farmer Association for the purpose of leadership development.
  • Assist local county extension/natural resources/county agriculture officials with programs that provide opportunities/techniques to improve/enhance the quality of life.
  • Provide educational counseling and advising as needed.
  • Provide weekly plans to immediate supervisor and a monthly annual report to the state adult agriculture coordinator at KCTCS.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
 
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor degree (Agriculture or related field) and two years related work experience, or equivalent.
  • Certified Crop Advisor Certification (CCA) is desirable.
  • Demonstrated effective technology skills, communication skills (written and verbal), organizational and interpersonal skills.
 
KY law requires state and national pre-employment background checks as a condition of employment.
